Tip: How to Organize Your Collection

Firstly, let's make it crystal clear, your collection is your own, you can organize it in whatever way you want to, there's no right or wrong method. The most common ways in cataloging are, alphabetically, by first names, by surnames, or by genres.

For more than 30-years, I stored my collection alphabetically, then in chronological order (i.e., 0-9 then A-Z, in the order of the release date). The only caveat being soundtracks and compilation albums with mixed artists; they were ordered under 'V' for Various Artists.

This system only changed recently when I added these plastic tabbed dividers into my collection. I slightly modified my ordering to encompass solo works and pseudonyms into the main artist's sections, denoting this with a '+' to the labels.
